Maniac Mansion Deluxe!!!
Jun 18, 2004 in Pop Culture
A group of nostalgic game programmers at LucasFan Games has released an improved clone of the classic LucasArts adventure game Maniac Mansion.
Maniac Mansion Deluxe has (slightly) better graphics and a more intuitive interface than the original. In the game, a group of college students venture into an old mansion to rescue the hero’s kidnapped cheerleader girlfriend from the clutches of a mad scientist. (Sound like any movies you’ve seen?)
The gameplay is very intuitive, the puzzles are thought-provoking (but not ridiculously hard), and it’s a lot of fun to play. Did I mention it’s free?
Maniac Mansion’s initial popularity spawned a Canadian-produced TV show (which ran for three whole seasons), and the game was infamously ported to the NES, where much of the game content was butchered due to censorship.
