Maniac Mansion Deluxe!!!

Jun 18, 2004 in Pop Culture

A group of nostalgic game programmers at LucasFan Games has released an improved clone of the classic LucasArts adventure game Maniac Mansion.

Maniac Mansion Deluxe has (slightly) better graphics and a more intuitive interface than the original. In the game, a group of college students venture into an old mansion to rescue the hero’s kidnapped cheerleader girlfriend from the clutches of a mad scientist. (Sound like any movies you’ve seen?)

The gameplay is very intuitive, the puzzles are thought-provoking (but not ridiculously hard), and it’s a lot of fun to play. Did I mention it’s free?

Maniac Mansion’s initial popularity spawned a Canadian-produced TV show (which ran for three whole seasons), and the game was infamously ported to the NES, where much of the game content was butchered due to censorship.

Who knew it had gone this far? (Black Album remixes)

B. Pulliam has compiled a comprehensive list of Black Album remixes, including some that don’t even exist yet. (I’m waiting patiently for “The Zack Album - Jay-Z vs Saved By The Bell” and “The Jay-Z Am Album - Jay-Z vs Trans Am”)

I’m also going to take this opportunity to unveil to the world my new blog; playlists for my weekly radio show on WMTS 88.3, The Lost Mixtapes.
