In reference to an earlier post about the supposed backward Satanic messages in Stairway to Heaven, I offer a few resources to those visitors who still believe that this hokum is for real.
‘For example, playing the phrase “Jesus
loves you” backward will sound something like “we smell sausage”, particularly
now that you’ve been told what to listen for, but it is strictly coincidence.’

im not suprised who didnt put stuff backwards in their songs back in the 70’s on one of the beatles albums if u play it backwards one of the band members says stuff like i want to die or something like that i wouldnt really know i dont listen to them but slayer also does…666

alright guys, all the songs were coincidental, although stairway to heaven is COMPLETELY real, come on?! a whole ENTIRE paragraph that makes sence both ways? and “they are two paths you can go by”..yea heaven and hell..forwards and backwatds..think about it? believe what you want..

I first heard of this yesterday. I dont know which to belive but I am tending to belibe that it doesnt really exist. I mean it is incredible that you can hear the one verse but someone posted this somewhere else.

this is what they belive the whole thing backwards says. I read the lyrics while listening to the song backwards and could definately hear this. I was amazed. But later I went back to the song. I tried to listen to it again but I could make very little out of it. It just seemed like garbled non sense. But then that one point with the “Heres my satan” I could definately recognise. Most likely becaause I had read it so many times I already recognise it without lyrics. But it truly is interesting how people hjave seen this. But just pointing out that the foward version is about lilith (adams first wife) and how she is trying to buy her way into heaven, and how the reverse side is said to be the “stairway to hell”. Im not sure which to believe. Not to mention that Jimmy Page was deeply into satanism. So they may have been trying to do that. If they did try to make the song a two way two meaning song…then they are truly gods themselves.

While I don’t think the “stairway to heaven” played backward is a subliminal message from the “devil” himself, I do think it might have been done intentionally for shits and giggles. ya know? But…I don’t really think its possible to make full paragraphs sound like words backwards intentionally in perfect english. Why would they go through all the trouble to freak people out? I think it is all coincidental really.

They wouldn’t do it for shits and giggles, they would do it because backwards it would have another meaning, as in if you play it forwards you get one message, and backwards you get an equally valid message - it’s a brilliant idea. the only problem is that it is not true. I believe that the mind is powerful enough to perfrom such a feat and create something that could be understood forward and backward with a complimentary meaning in each, but the english language does not really allow for it. All that happened is that it is the result of people using their imaginations to assign meanings to the sounds that they hear. I could make you think there was a song about eating wheaties in nine inch nails song if you wanted, and then the world would think that there was some conspiracy between NIN and Wheaties to make you eat a healthy breakfast.
